MOM’s Job Vacancies 2025 report, released on 20 March 2026, identifies software-development occupations, systems analysts and data scientists among roles with sustained demand. It also reports difficulty filling some specialised roles because of skills and experience gaps. Demand does not mean every vacancy is entry level.

This is a role-research list, not a salary ranking or a claim that all ten occupations have the same measured vacancy level. Use current advertisements to investigate the scope and seniority.

1. Software developer

Explore building and maintaining software, not only writing a demonstration. Check the product, review process and experience expected.

2. Systems analyst

Look at work translating operational needs into system requirements. Ask how technical design, process analysis and stakeholder communication are divided.

3. Data scientist

Investigate the statistical, modelling and domain knowledge required. Do not assume a short introductory course replaces the experience a vacancy requests.

4. Data analyst

Explore questions, data quality and clear interpretation. Compare a reporting role with a more technical analytics position before treating the titles as equivalent.

5. Data engineer

Look at reliable movement and preparation of data. Ask which systems, responsibilities and operational support the role owns.

6. Cloud engineer

Investigate infrastructure, access, deployment and operations. A cloud-related title may involve substantially different responsibilities across employers.

7. Cybersecurity practitioner

Choose a specific area, such as operations, governance or engineering. “Cybersecurity” is too broad to describe one universal entry requirement.

8. Software quality specialist

Explore testing, risk and useful defect evidence. Check whether the role emphasises manual investigation, automation or a combination.

9. IT support professional

Investigate user communication, troubleshooting and escalation. Check training, access boundaries and any shift or on-call responsibilities.

10. Technical business analyst

Look for requirements work, process understanding and collaboration. Ask how the team distinguishes this role from project or product management.

Choose the next practical step

Choose two roles and compare several real descriptions by tasks, level and evidence required. Build a small relevant work sample using synthetic or public information. The career-change plan helps test the work before committing to expensive training. No role on this list guarantees a job, salary or route into Singapore employment.
